Jeff Sessions put in His Place, Congress Shut Down His Expansion of Civil Asset Forfeiture

Published on Sep 13, 2017

While it is a rare occasion when the group claiming to represent the will of the American people actually votes accordingly, the House of Representatives voted in opposition of Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ plan to expand civil asset forfeiture on Tuesday. The Make America Secure and Prosperous Appropriations Act will now include Amendment 126, which “restricts the use of the federal government’s use of adoptive forfeiture.” It is co-sponsored by a group of nine bipartisan representatives, including Justin Amash, a Republican from Michigan, and Tulsi Gabbard, a Democrat from Hawaii.

EXCERPT

“Asset forfeiture is coming back, too. Sessions has opened the federal loophole closed by his predecessor, allowing local agencies to give the finger to legislators and the people they serve as they bypass local reform efforts and cash in on other people’s property. Sessions appeared to bethis close to visible arousal when discussing the return of the Federal Forfeiture Loophole during a law enforcement conference in Alabama.

“I love that program,” Sessions said. “We had so much fun doing that, taking drug dealers’ money and passing it out to people trying to put drug dealers in jail. What’s wrong with that?” . . . Read Complete Report

Tennessee Bill Would Abolish Civil Forfeiture

From IntelHub March 20, 2013

A new bill would eliminate civil forfeiture in Tennessee. Unlike criminal forfeiture, under civil forfeiture police do not need to convict or even charge a property owner before seizing his property. Civil forfeiture turns “innocent until proven guilty” on its head by forcing owners to prove their innocence to recover the seized property.

In good news for property owners across the Volunteer State, State Rep. Barrett Rich, a former Tennessee state trooper, has introduced HB 1078. If the bill passes, seizing property would require a warrant. In addition, forfeiture and title transfer of property would take place only under due process of law and if “the owner of the property in question is prosecuted and convicted.” The bill has one other cosponsor, Rep. Joey Hensley, and is currently in committee.

Speaking to a local news station, Rich outlined how civil forfeiture treatsinnocent owners worse than actual criminals: . . . Read Complete Report

Sean Hannity 10/11/17 – Hannity Fox News Today October 11, 2017 PRESIDENT TRUMP FULL INTERVIEW

I disagree and am disappointed with many of the things that President Trump has done since being in office.  Letting his Deep State advisers talk him into bringing back the unconstitutional “Civil Forfeiture” laws; (shot down by Congress, thank God); not sticking up to his campaign statements that the legalization of hemp is a States Rights issue, not a federal Issue; and his seemingly lack of really caring about the great immediate needs  of our fellow U.S Citizens in Puerto  Rico. After all their Island was IS a casualty of the Deep States Weather War against Americans. The least they can do is step up to the plate and really help those people.

However even a total Trump hater will have to admit after watching this interview that Trump has had some huge successes on the financial side of his plate.   And there is one thing I am dead certain of.   Thank God we did not get the Clinton Crime Family back! . . . Your Editor Dennis Crenshaw

Back to the Future: The Alarming Militarization Of American Police

So Trump’s administration is going to make “America Great Again” by cracking down on the steady move of the individual states answering the wishes of 70% of America’s citizens to end Marijuana Prohibition; to increase the instances of unlawful Civil Forfeiture of citizens property without due process and vamping up the Militarization of police forces around the nation.

Fact Check Fail or Deliberate Lie? Snopes Gets It Wrong On Story About Warrantless Searches

Source: The Free Thought Project

Snopes attempted to debunk a very real threat to the 4th Amendment by making up a false statement and using it as a red herring.

Snopes.com has made its name as the truthful source that debunks crazy conspiracy theories and “fake news” on the internet, but its response to a story on legislation allowing warrantless searches is in need of its own fact check.

As Snopes correctly noted, the story in question was published by The Free Thought Project on Aug. 24, and is on the subject of House Joint Resolution 76. What Snopes does not mention is that up until TFTP reported on the legislation, it received virtually no media coverage, aside from criticism from Congressman Justin Amash on social media. . . . Marijuana Crackdown Staged to Distract From “Fast and Furious” Scandal, Author Says

Eric Holder: “Closed Down Pot Clubs in a Fast and Furious Way”

Turns out the federal Justice Department’s almost-yearlong crackdown on state-legal medical cannabis has nothing to do with hard-line drug warriors, forfeiture numbers, President Barack Obama’s reelection effort — or even marijuana itself.

Shutting dispensaries in California, Colorado, Montana, and Washington is all an attempt at political misdirection, with a state-legal industry as the unfortunate collateral damage, according to journalist Martin A. Lee.

Attorney General Eric Holder directed his prosecutors to dismantle legal weed so that he could distract Republican congressmen and Justice Department officials from his mishandling of the “Fast and Furious” gun-walking scandal, Lee, the author of an upcoming social history of marijuana, said in an article published this weekend on Truthout. . . .
