Support for legalizing marijuana is at it’s highest with U.S. voters across the political spectrum—whether Democrats, Republicans or independents, according to a new poll by the General Social Survey. Although a higher percentage of Democratic voters agreed marijuana should be legal in the U.S. compared to Republican voters, overall, nearly 60 percent of Americans thought “the use of marijuana should be legal.” in 2017…
Nearly one-quarter of US residents would consider their state seceding from the US, according to a new poll from Reuters and Ipsos. Asked about how they view the idea of forming an independent country, 23.9 percent of respondents either strongly or generally supported the move, but 53 percent strongly oppose any such action. Among supporters, Obamacare, foreign policy and political gridlock were frequently cited. RT’s Ameera David has more on the surprising numbers.

Check out for yourself what Obama might have seen if he had not refused Gov. Perry’s offer of a tour of the Texas/Mexico Border. Obama was in Austin on a fundraiser. Obama told the Texas Governor that he did not need to go to the border. (It was 250 miles away). He then flew off to another big-money Texas fundraiser.
“We’ve got the border under control” was the sound bite from President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden but when push came to shove the Administration refused to answer the question, Is the Border Secure?
They might have been able to answer that question more clearly had our leader gone down and eyeballed what I believe to be one of our major problems. . . . . EDITOR

Map Below: “The Beverly Hills Oil Field is a large and currently active oil field underneath part of the city of Beverly Hills, California, USA, and portions of the adjacent city of Los Angeles. Discovered in 1900, and with a cumulative production of over 150 million barrels of oil, it ranks 39th by size among California’s oil fields, and is unusual for being a large, continuously productive field in an entirely urban setting (Wikipedia).

Clear majority favors legal marijuana, new Gallup poll shows
Americans who believe marijuana should remain illegal are now in the minority, according to new poll numbers released Tuesday.
For the first time ever in a Gallup poll, a clear majority of the country – 58 percent – say that pot should be legalized. That figure represents an increase of 10 percentage points since last year, according to Gallup. The poll surveyed 1,028 Americans by phone Oct. 3-6.
Those in favor of legalization skew young and liberal, though the biggest increase of support came among people identified as independents. Sixty-two percent of independents favored legalization in 2013, up 12 percentage points from last year, according to the poll. Sixty-five percent of Democrats favored legalization, vs. just 35 percent of Republicans. . . . Read Complete Report

Retronaut.com is a seriously cool site for fans of quirky, odd historical photos as evidenced by these three strangely hysterical shots of cops and a scraggly little pot plant.
We don’t have much information on these photos, other than they are from the Van Nuys police department from 1951 and somehow wound up as part of the University of Southern California. Apparently someone sent a pot plant to the jail without any explanation and the cops had no idea what to do with it, or themselves . . . Complete Article with photos.

“She Shoulda Said ‘No’!” (also known as Wild Weed; Marijuana, the Devil’s Weed; The Story of Lila Leeds and Her Exposé of the Marijuana Racket; and The Devil’s Weed) is a 1949 exploitation film that follows in the spirit of morality tales such as the 1936 films Reefer Madness and Marihuana. Directed by Sherman Scott and starring Lila Leeds, it was originally produced to capitalize on the arrest of Leeds and Robert Mitchum on a charge of marijuana conspiracy. The film was issued under many titles; it struggled to find a distributor until film presenter Kroger Babb picked up the rights, reissuing it as The Story of Lila Leeds and Her Exposé of the Marijuana Racket. Its relative success came only after the promotional posters were redone and a story fabricated that the film was being presented in conjunction with the United States Treasury.
