China cracks down on “slay red dragon” doomsday cult

from Reuters

BEIJING | Fri Dec 14, 2012 12:04am EST

(Reuters) – China has launched a crackdown on a cult it says is calling for a “decisive battle” to slay the “Red Dragon” Communist Party, and which has been spreading doomsday rumors, state media said on Friday.

In recent weeks, hundreds of members of the “Almighty God” group have clashed with police, sometimes outside government buildings, in central Henan, northern Shaanxi and southwestern Gansu provinces, according to photos on popular microblogs. . . . Read Complete Report

Dec. 3, 2008 — Nearly two pounds of still-green plant material found in a 2,700-year-old grave in the Gobi Desert has just been identified as the world’s oldest marijuana stash, according to a paper in the latest issue of the Journal of Experimental Botany.

A barrage of tests proves the marijuanapossessed potent psychoactive properties and casts doubt on the theory that the ancients only grew the plant for hemp in order to make clothing, rope and other objects.

They apparently were getting high too. . . . Read Complete Report

Assessment of PLA Underground Airforce Bases (China)

No# 1 photo presented in  in this study. PLA-AF Shenyang J-8 Finback fighters being towed into one of the PLA’s many “super-hardened” underground air bases. Tunneled horizontally into the sides of hills, these bases are unusually difficult to destroy and permit concealed preparations for operation, as fueling, weapons loading and runup activity is invisible to orbital and airborne ISR assets. Note the open exterior blast door (Chinese Internet). SOURCE: http://www.ausairpower.net

Notice how much China has been in the news lately… buying up your local movie theater chain (AMC), hotels, closed bases…building towns to move their people over.  You catch my drift.  They’re just spending all that money that they make selling us disposable  junk we all buy at the local big box store. Of course we can’t really say anything. That’s the American way – Invest. Make money.

But, The thing that REALLY bothers me is that they are spending a lot of that money on war preparation also.

I found the following Air Power Australia Analysis: “Assessment of PLA Underground Air Bases” to be very thorough,  very interesting and very, very troubling. . . . EDITOR

Abstract

The PLA’s network of around forty underground airbases provides a unique and indeed superlative capability to withstand a large scale counter-air campaign, as significant effort with penetrating munitions of large mass would be required to close such bases down for the duration of the campaign, or permanently render them unusable. As these bases deny surveillance by orbital, airborne or ground based ISR assets, they provide an inherent capability to perform covert preparations for combat operations, be it in times of conflict, or in the period immediately preceding a conflict. . . . Lost Underwater Lion City: Rediscovery of China’s ‘Atlantis’ (w/video)

Once upon a time, an ancient city in China was named Lion City because Five Lion Mountain loomed large behind it. The city, also known as Shi Cheng, has been buried beneath the water for 53 years. Like the lost Incan City of Machu Picchu was ‘rediscovered,’ so was this lost underwater city that had been founded about 1,300 years ago. Lion City is now located about 85 – 131 feet (26-40 meters) beneath the gorgeous Thousand Island Lake (Qiandao Lake). This valley was submerged when a dam was constructed and a lake was needed. The lake and thousands of islands were man-made. Shi Cheng ‘defied’ the Chinese norm since 5 gates and 5 towers were built into the city instead of 4. Lion City is about the size of 62 football fields. International archaeologists and a film crew recorded the amazing preservation of the lost ‘ruins.’ [23 Photos, 2 Videos] . . . NASA Study: Chemistry of Thunderstorms

Now that NASA is not the only ball in the game and privatization is the future of space travel  I guess they have to have something to spend money on. But thunderstorms? It’s common knowledge that we know enough about the weather to manipulate it.  But then I guess we need to catch up with China. . . .EDITOR

NASA researchers are about to fly off on a campaign that will take them into the heart of thunderstorm country.

The Deep Convective Clouds and Chemistry (DC3) field campaign will use an airport in Salina, Kan., as a base to explore the impact of large thunderstorms on the concentration of ozone and other substances in the upper troposphere. The campaign is being led by the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colorado, and is funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and NASA. . . . Read Complete Report

A leading Chinese meteorologist says the country will employ more rainmaking technology and make better use of it in the next five years.

Some 560,000 manipulations of the weather have been conducted since 2002 using aircraft, rockets and projectiles carrying dry ice or silver iodide particles to stimulate rainfall, resulting with release of 489.7 billion tons of rain and saved about $10.4 billion in economic losses the China Meteorological Administration reported.

China started with weather modification program in 1958. For the 2008 Olympics, China had 30 airplanes, 4,000 rocket launchers, and 7,000 anti-aircraft guns to stop rain.. . . Read Complete Report

Fed clears China’s first US bank takeover

from yahoo news

The United States opened its banking market to China’s biggest bank ICBC, for the first time clearing a takeover of a US bank by a Chinese state-controlled company.

Just days after high-level US-China economic talks in Beijing, the Federal Reserve approved an application from Industrial and Commercial Bank of China to buy a majority stake in the US subsidiary of Bank of East Asia.

The transaction will make ICBC the first Chinese state-controlled bank to acquire retail bank branches in the United States.

ICBC has been the most aggressive of China’s “big four” banks in expanding abroad.

Outside China, it operates subsidiary banks in Asian countries and has branches in a number of countries including Germany, Japan and Singapore.

According to the Fed, the bank has total assets of roughly $2.5 trillion.

ICBC will buy up to 80 percent of the US unit of the Hong Kong-based Bank of East Asia, which operates 13 branches in New York and California.

As part of the deal, ICBC and two state-backed financial firms — China’s sovereign wealth fund, the China Investment Corporation (CIC), and Central Huijin Investment — will be recognized as bank holding companies, regulated as commercial US banks.

The Fed said the takeover may not occur before May 15, or later than three months from Wednesday. . . . Read Complete Story

China’s Savage War With Space Aliens

China’s Savage War With Space Aliens
Tuesday, January 17, 2012 10:17
Some ancient writings of China that precede their calendar by as much as 300 years, suggest that regions to the north were invaded by extraterrestrial forces. These alien armies built pyramids, enslaved the people, and battled defiant Asian warlords. Yet another race, indigenous to the same area at that time, stepped into the battle. Gigantic men, 12-feet tall with flaming red hair and leather suits of armor, helped repel the alien intruders. It was a time when the ferocious giants roamed the earth. They saved Chinaand perhaps the worlddriving the alien hordes back into the limitless depths of the void… read complete report
