In the movie Avatar, humans hooked themselves up to brain-machine-interface pods with which they could control giant genetically engineered human-alien hybrids. It’s just a movie, but DARPA, the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, doesn’t care: It wants this kind of system to be real, just replace “giant genetically engineered human-alien hybrids” with “robots.”In its 2012 budget, DARPA has decided to pour US $7 million into the “Avatar Project,” whose goal is the following: “develop interfaces and algorithms to enable a soldier to effectively partner with a semi-autonomous bi-pedal machine and allow it to act as the soldier’s surrogate.” Whoa.. . . Andy Basiago first emerged into public life four years ago with sensational claims of discovering life on Mars. He wrote a White Paper in 2008 with his analysis of Mars Rover images which he claimed were conclusive proof of life of Mars and a NASA controlled cover up. Later Basiago publicly declared his participation as a child in Project Pegasus, a DARPA funded project which tested advanced technologies using children. Among these technologies was what Basiago described as “jump room” technology. This allowed the instantaneous transport through time and space. Among the places Basiago claimed to have visited is Mars. There he saw a dinosaur roving the Martian surface hungry for food – human residents lost on the surface being a delicacy for such beasts according to Basiago. Basiago’s most recent claims are even more sensational. President Obama back in 1980 was also part of the Mars program and even got to travel to Mars. The US Air Force Wants to Monitor, Track and Analyze Everything Done on the Internet Around the Globe

Dr. Mark Maybury, the United States Air Force Chief Scientist, is stepping outside of the typical areas in which an Air Force Chief Scientist operates and into the digital realm.

Maybury seeks to develop something he has dubbed “Social Radar” which would monitor information coming from just about every source imaginable: television, all internet communications, radio, official reports, and more, in order to look into the hearts and minds of target populations and perhaps even predict future events.

The Department of Defense (DOD) and Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) have been working on technology along these lines for some time now but Maybury’s vision seems even more expansive and hard to believe than anything I’ve previously heard of or read about.

Maybury outlined his vision of a Social Radar in a 2010 paper for the MITRE Corporation, a government-funded entity. . . . Read complete report
