A handful of House Republicans want to authorize the House of Representatives to file a lawsuit against President Barack Obama if he acts on his own to ease U.S. immigration rules.
Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.) proposed a resolution Monday that would allow the House to file a civil suit against the Obama administration if it fails to follow the law, “with respect to immigration laws or laws pertaining or relating to illegal aliens, undocumented immigrants, or non-American citizens.” . . . The United Nations General Assembly voted Oct. 28 for the 23rd consecutive year on a Cuba resolution calling upon the United States to end its economic blockade against the island. Cuban ‘exodus’ blamed on failed reforms
Despite a marked increase in Cubans arriving by sea off South Florida, the U.S. Coast Guard says it does not anticipate a Mariel boatlift-type of crisis any time soon.
Between the 2,059 Cubans stopped at sea trying to land on shore and the more than 800 who actually made it here, there has been a 75 percent increase in attempted and successful migration from last fiscal year, which ended Sept. 30. . . . Read Complete Report

SIERRA VISTA, Arizona — Cochise County Sheriff Mark Dannels doesn’t mince words. He’s angry that local law enforcement and the citizens who call the Southwest border home have been left out of the decision making process when it comes to security and immigration reform.
Dannels has lived along the border since 1984. He remembers when the dangers from smugglers circumventing the rocky, mountainous terrain were few and far between. Now, he says, a different breed of narcotics traffickers has amassed weapons, technology and small armies of death; threatening not only the stability of Mexico but U.S. national security as well. Arrests of illegal immigrants crossing into the United States have nearly tripled in recent months in anticipation of Congressional efforts to enact comprehensive immigration legislation, border patrol agents told CBS News Wednesday.
