Odyssey Marine Exploration just finished a record-setting recovery effort in the North Atlantic, pulling 1,574 silver ingots from the wreck of merchant ship SS Gairsoppa three miles below the choppy seas. The total value is expected to rise more than $35 million.
The mournful tale of the SS Gairsoppa stood unchanged for seven decades — sunk by a German U-boat, 84 people killed, its fortune in silver bars forever lost to the Atlantic Ocean.
What do P-Diddy, Cameron Diaz, Nicki Minaj, Ron Howard and Mark Wahlberg all have in common? Aside from being ridiculously famous and wealthy, they all support the reformation of drug laws in this country. More than 175 actors, artists, athletes and elected officials signed on to an open letter to President Obama today, asking him to change our drug policy laws from punitive, harsh jail times to one that favors evidence- based prevention and rehabilitation. . . . by Erik Altieri, NORML Communications Director
April 5, 2013
On Friday, April 5th, Governor Steve Beshear of Kentucky stated that he will let Kentucky’s industrial hemp measure become law without his signature. Gov. Drone use just got a little scarier with reports that the United Nations wants to start using them to strengthen MONUSCO, their “peacekeeping” mission to the Democratic Republic of the Congo. They want to use them to monitor the Rwanda-Congo conflict amid accusations that Rwanda has been aiding rebels (something that only the U.S. government is allowed to do).
The idea of the UN using drones was considered at one point, but it was dropped because of the cost. But now that so many countries are using them, the cost has come down, and the UN has even approached the US among other countries about providing drone technology. . . . Read Complete Report
Back in a 1992 old subscription snail mail Hollow Earth Insider I ran an extended report on a revolutionary, outside-the box, issued legal money without any Federal Reserve involvement attached. This new money issued by locals in Ithaca New York called “Ithica Hours.” . . . EDITER
Ithaca HOURS are not backed by national currency and cannot be freely converted to national currency, although some businesses may agree to buy them.
HOURS are printed on high-quality paper and use faint graphics that would be difficult to reproduce, and each bill is stamped with a serial number, in order to discouragecounterfeiting.
In 2002, a one-tenth hour bill was introduced, partly due to the encouragement and funding from Alternatives Federal Credit Union and feedback from retailers who complained about the awkwardness of only having larger denominations to work with; the bills bear the signatures of both HOURS President Steve Burke and the president of AFCU. . . .Read Complete Wikipedia Report

The states that have filed a petition to secede from the United States is growing every day since the election results were final.
The next step for these states will be a local currency. But local currency’s are nothing new. Below is a list of states and local communities within those states that already have a model in place for just such an event.
It may seem like Monopoly money to outsiders, but a growing number of communities across the U.S. are using homegrown local currencies to stimulate their economies and protect themselves from the nation’s broader economic woes.
Now, even state governments are exploring the option. Lawmakers in more than 10 states, including Virginia, Georgia, South Carolina, Idaho and Tennessee, have been circulating proposals to introduce alternative currencies — many of which would be issued in the form of gold or silver coins.
The economy is in trouble and people don’t trust the Federal Reserve and they don’t trust the government, so this is somewhere they can turn, and somewhere they can still do business if the banks close.. . Read Complete Report

Crop Circle’s are one subject that I have been fascinated with since we first started hearing about them. I do believe they contain messages. But messages from whom? Or what? I still haven’t the faintest idea of their origin. Here’s another theory for our puzzlement. Don’t really know where he is going with this, but the presentation photos of the crop circles and illustrations is great! . . . EDITOR
