Using waste hemp fibers as the starting material, researchers at the University of Alberta in Canada have developed a high-performance electrode material for supercapacitors at one thousandth the cost of the more commonly used graphene. The advance could lead to supercapacitors that are both cheaper and able to operate under harsh environmental conditions.

Despite a bad reputation, hemp is a truly remarkable plant. It can be grown on the cheap, requiring very little care even in very cold and dry environments, and has many uses, ranging from construction material to clothing, bioplastics, and even biofuel creation. . . . Read Complete Report

Who You Gonna Call? Doesn’t Matter, Big Brother Will Listen

Phone Call Metadata Betrays Sensitive Info – Study

Identities of cannabis grower, woman seeking an abortion and MS sufferer inferred in study that confirms danger of widespread access to metadata

from: The Guardian

Warnings that phone call “metadata” can betray detailed information about your life has been confirmed by research at Stanford University. Researchers there successfully identified a cannabis cultivator, multiple sclerosis sufferer and a visitor to an abortion clinic using nothing more than the timing and destination of their phone calls.

Jonathan Mayer and Patrick Mutchler, the researchers behind the finding, used data gleaned from 546 volunteers to assess the extent to which information about who they had called and when revealed personally sensitive information.

4th grader sells pot in northern Colorado

GREELEY, Colo. (AP) — School officials in northern Colorado are asking parents to take care with their newly legal recreational marijuana, after fourth graders were caught dealing the drug on an elementary school campus.

John Gates, director of safety for Weld County School District 6, said Wednesday that the students involved, three 10-year-old boys and a 10-year-old girl at Greeley’s Monfort Elementary School, faced tough discipline but not suspension or expulsion. He would not elaborate on their punishment.

Colorado Rockies Baseball Team To Sell Marijuana Brownies At Their Concession Stands

From: empiresports.co

With the new laws in effect in Colorado, major sports organizations are looking for ways to cash in on the newest legal cash crop in the state.

Sources are reporting that Major League Baseball’s Colorado Rockies plan to sell food items which contain marijuana at concession stands during games next season.

The first item on the list?  Pot Brownies.

An inside source with the organization said that it appears that the strain of marijuana that will be used in the making of the marijuana brownies will be Durango Bango which is considered to be the very best weed in the Rocky Mountain State.

Editor’s Note: I am not a fan of professional sports, not since Larry Bird was playing anyway. Nor am I a fan of municipalities taxing citizens to build sports stadiums. However, if I recall my ancient history, Rome debated the sale or distribution of inebriating substances at the gladiatorial games in order to appease overtaxed Roman citizens. Rome still fell apart and it nothing at all to do with the citizens being too stoned to function, rather, the leaders were too greedy to be good managers of public resources.

If a beer is eight or ten bucks at the ballpark, how much will pot brownies cost?

Deputy Drug Czar pOWNED in Congressional Sub-Committee

Published on Feb 4, 2014

The deputy director of the White House’s Office of National Drug Control Policy admitted Tuesday that marijuana was less deadly than alcohol, but insisted that pot was not a benign drug.

At a House Oversight Committee hearing, the drug czar’s second-in-command, Michael Botticelli, received a stern questioning from Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA) about the harms of marijuana in light of President Barack Obama recent comments on the subject.

“How many people die from marijuana overdoses every year?” Connolly asked.

“I don’t know that I know. It is very rare,” Botticelli replied.

Two and a Half Years Later, Expected Dire Results Absent

In June, 2012, Indiana became the first U.S. state to specifically allow homeowners to use force, even deadly force, against police officers or other public servants during illegal acts commissions by those public servants, according to the Association of Prosecuting Attorneys in Washington, which represents and supports prosecutors.

Then, this past week, the Indiana Senate passed a bill legallizing hemp production in the State, despite Federal law to the contrary.
