Coats: Fifth Circuit’s Ruling Reaffirms President’s Role is to Execute, not Alter, Law
WASHINGTON, DC — Senator Dan Coats (R-Ind.) today issued the following statement regarding a ruling by the Fifth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals that rejects President Obama’s executive amnesty:
“The Fifth Circuit’s ruling reaffirms that President Obama’s role is to faithfully execute the law, not alter or ignore it as he sees fit. I applaud the court’s ruling to halt President Obama’s executive actions on immigration, and I will closely watch this case as it continues. In the meantime, I will continue to work with my colleagues in Congress to conclusively stop the president’s blatant disregard for our nation’s system of checks and balances.”
Military Dot Com and Fox News are running with a story proclaiming that Russia is making a subtle play for control of Arctic shipping and resources. How does that play into Hollow Earth claims? Feel free to comment
Russia has re-established Soviet-era military bases across the Arctic and begun building a string of search-and-rescue stations along its Arctic shores
We know what Bill Clinton was doing in the White House, just ask Monica Lewinsky. But what does Obama do… watch TV and play golf? He certainly does not seem to read his advisers memo’s or listen to their briefings. He says he gets his info the same place as us…. the controlled media. . .EDITOR
Obama said he didn’t find out about IRS scandal until Friday; WH counsel knew about it back in April.
Published on May 13, 2013
Was President Obama caught in an outright lie today? at his press conference today, President Obama said he just learned about the scandal on Friday: Well, let me take the IRS situation first. I first learned about it from the same news reports that I think most people learned about this. I think it was on Friday. And this is pretty straightforward.
However, the White House counsel’s office was informed in April of an inspector general’s review of the Internal Revenue Service according to Jay Carney.
Carney told reporters that the counsel’s office was told about IRS targeting conservatives during the week of April 22, but was not given details about the review’s findings. President Obama, Carney said, was not told about the review and learned of it only after news reports emerged Friday, just what Obama said earlier Monday.
“We have never — we don’t have access to, nor should we, the IG’s report or any draft versions of it,” Carney said.
So why would the WH counsel be informed about the investigation but not Obama?
So Obama gets his information, unlike other presidents, from the mainstream media. Would he lie?
A judge has sided with Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio in the first clash in what is expected to be a major court fight over the legality of President Obama’s executive immigration actions, ordering a fast track for case arguments and hearings.
Two Justice Department lawyers representing Obama in the case had asked for the deadline for their initial response to be delayed until late January.
But U.S. District Judge Beryl A. Howell in Washington, D.C., granted a motion by Arpaio’s attorney, Larry Klayman of FreedomWatch, to move things along quickly. . . . Read Complete Report
A handful of House Republicans want to authorize the House of Representatives to file a lawsuit against President Barack Obama if he acts on his own to ease U.S. immigration rules.
Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.) proposed a resolution Monday that would allow the House to file a civil suit against the Obama administration if it fails to follow the law, “with respect to immigration laws or laws pertaining or relating to illegal aliens, undocumented immigrants, or non-American citizens.” . . . The deputy director of the White House’s Office of National Drug Control Policy admitted Tuesday that marijuana was less deadly than alcohol, but insisted that pot was not a benign drug.
At a House Oversight Committee hearing, the drug czar’s second-in-command, Michael Botticelli, received a stern questioning from Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA) about the harms of marijuana in light of President Barack Obama recent comments on the subject.
“How many people die from marijuana overdoses every year?” Connolly asked.
“I don’t know that I know. It is very rare,” Botticelli replied.
