New images from NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) spacecraft show the moon’s crust is being stretched, forming minute valleys in a few small areas on the lunar surface. Scientists propose this geologic activity occurred less than 50 million years ago, which is considered recent compared to the moon’s age of more than 4.5 billion years.

A team of researchers analyzing high-resolution images obtained by the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera (LROC) show small, narrow trenches typically much longer than they are wide. This indicates the lunar crust is being pulled apart at these locations. These linear valleys, known as graben, form when the moon’s crust stretches, breaks and drops down along two bounding faults. US and Mexican authorities have found one of the most sophisticated secret drug-smuggling tunnels ever discovered on their shared border.

An estimated 17 tonnes of marijuana were found in the tunnel, which is about 400 metres long and linked warehouses in San Diego and Tijuana, authorities said.

US authorities seized about nine tonnes of marijuana inside a truck and at the warehouse in San Diego’s Otay Mesa area, said Derek Benner, US immigration and customs enforcement special agent in charge of investigations in San Diego. Mexican authorities found about eight tonnes south of the border.

They made the announcement at a news conference near packages of seized drugs festooned with labels of Captain America, Sprite and Bud Light. The markings are codes to identify the owners. . . Read Complete report

In the dark abyss of the world’s deepest known cave lurks a newfound species of primitive eyeless insect, one that researchers are calling the deepest land animal ever found.

Ancient, Lost Landscape

Buried deep beneath the sediment of the North Atlantic Ocean lies an ancient, lost landscape with furrows cut by rivers and peaks that once belonged to mountains. Geologists recently discovered this roughly 56-million-year-old landscape using data gathered for oil companies. “It looks for all the world like a map of a bit of a country onshore,” said Nicky White, the senior researcher. “It is like an ancient fossil landscape preserved 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) beneath the seabed.”

So far, the data have revealed a landscape about 3,861 square miles (10,000 square km) west of the Orkney-Shetland Islands that stretched above sea level by almost as much as 0.6 miles (1 km). In the movie Avatar, humans hooked themselves up to brain-machine-interface pods with which they could control giant genetically engineered human-alien hybrids. It’s just a movie, but DARPA, the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, doesn’t care: It wants this kind of system to be real, just replace “giant genetically engineered human-alien hybrids” with “robots.”In its 2012 budget, DARPA has decided to pour US $7 million into the “Avatar Project,” whose goal is the following: “develop interfaces and algorithms to enable a soldier to effectively partner with a semi-autonomous bi-pedal machine and allow it to act as the soldier’s surrogate.” Whoa.. . . Every other candidate for President, including Obama has had Military Personnel who supported their candidacy on their tours etc. But in this coming show for support of Rom Paul the military bigwigs have sent out a “directive” stating that active, inactive and even RETIRED service personnel where forbidden to march for Ron Paul.

It’s obvious they are using scare-tactics in order to try and keep the march small. I do not believe their plan will have a large impact because Ron Paul has received more support and money from our active military that any other candidate. Our brave men and women in the armed services are smart. They understand that Ron Paul is our only chance to regain our liberty and freedom. If Ron Paul does not win our I believe our constitution is lost. I think the last minute scare e-mail will only raise the resolve of those who would have marched anyway. . . . EDITOR
