Illegal crossings of the U.S.-Mexico border have doubled recently, and possibly even tripled, since the latest congressional push toward “comprehensive immigration reform” – which many consider a euphemism for amnesty.

Indeed, as journalist Katie Pavlich has reported, some border patrol agents claim illegals are coming to the U.S. in much higher numbers in just the past few months, with data from Customs and Border Protection showing 504 illegals were detected crossing in just one border sector between Feb. 5 and March 1. Only 189 were caught on camera, and just 174 of the 504 were apprehended. Of those spotted on camera, 32 were carrying huge packs believed to contain drugs and several were heavily armed. . . . Marijuana vending machines: helpful or just hype?

By Jack Daniel in DispensariesMedicalNews

Innovation is inevitable in any industry, and the field of medical marijuana is no different. With laws already in the books in 18 states and more on the way, investors who might not know their Blue Chips from their Blue Dream are flocking to these regions to stake their claim in what they see as the next big commodity.

White-collar Wall Street-types can certainly see the budding upside to sinking money into dispensaries, growing operations, and other cannabis related retail outlets. But those potential gains are often outweighed by the prospects of inventory control, employee management, product naiveté. And of course, the grey area that exists in all current state-level medical marijuana laws that fly in the face of Federal statute. Cue MedBox. . . . Read Complete Report

WW4 Report

March 26, 2013

Officially, US State Department aid to the Honduran National Police must bypass units under the direct supervision of the force’s overall commander, Director General Juan Carlos Bonilla AKA “El Tigre”—who in 2002 was accused of three extrajudicial killings and links to 11 more deaths and disappearances in so-called “social cleansing” operations. He was tried on one killing and acquitted; the other cases were never fully investigated.

But an investigation by the Associated Press, based on interviews with unnamed Honduran officials, finds that all police units are actually under Bonilla’s direction. Speaking on record was Celso Alvarado, a criminal law professor and consultant to the Honduran Commission for Security and Justice Sector Reform, said the same. “Every police officer in Honduras, regardless of their specific functions, is under the hierarchy and obedience of the director general,” he said. . . . The Next Seven States To Legalize Pot
December 18, 2012 9:00 AM ET

The Berlin Wall of pot prohibition seems to be crumbling before our eyes.

By fully legalizing marijuana through direct democracy, Colorado and Washington have fundamentally changed the national conversation about cannabis. As many as 58 percent of Americans now believe marijuana should be legal. And our political establishment is catching on. Former president Jimmy Carter came out this month and endorsed taxed-and-regulated weed. “I’m in favor of it,” Carter said. “I think it’s OK.” In a December 5th letter to Attorney General Eric Holder, Senate Judiciary Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-Vermont) suggested it might be possible “to amend the Federal Controlled Substances Act to allow possession of up to one ounce of marijuana, at least in jurisdictions where it is legal under state law.” . . . Weed Dispenser Combination of Public Domain photosWill cigarette makers jump into pot market?

By NICHOLAS K. GERANIOS Associated Press Published: Dec 19, 2012 at 10:58 AM PST Last Updated: Dec 19, 2012 at 11:27 AM PST

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) – Will the Marlboro Man light up a joint soon?

The states of Washington and Colorado legalized possession of small amounts of marijuana in the November elections, but it is unclear if any cigarette makers plan to supply either market.

Marijuana remains illegal under federal law. President Barack Obama indicated last week that going after individual users won’t be a priority, but there’s no firm indication yet what action the Justice Department might take against states or businesses that participate in the nascent pot market, which has the potential to be large. For example analysts have estimated that a legal pot market could bring Washington state hundreds of millions of dollars a year in new tax revenue for schools, health care and basic government functions.

Bill Phelps, a spokesman for Philip Morris USA, maker of Marlboro, based in Richmond, Va., was vague when asked about the future intentions of the nation’s largest tobacco company. . . . Read Complete Report

How the Feds are Reacting to pot Legalization

Posted on November 8, 2012 at 10:42 am by David Downs in LegalPolitics

How are the authorities reacting to pot legalization in Washington and Colorado? Well, Attorney General Eric Holder says “I don’t know [if I’ll be coming back for four more years]“, according to a newly released video of Mr. Holder speaking at a law school. Many see that as the warm-up before the departure of the embattled AG, who oversaw a largely ineffective crackdown on medical marijuana.

Kristen Gwynne at AlterNet does a great round-up of all other responses today, noting that the governor of Colorado said, “The voters have spoken and we have to respect their will. This will be a complicated process, but we intend to follow through. That said, federal law still says marijuana is an illegal drug so don’t break out the Cheetos or goldfish too quickly.” . . . Does legal marijuana in the US really mean trouble for Mexican drug cartels?

By , Staff writer / November 8, 2012

A look at the numbers.

It has long been a popular argument among campaigners for reform of America‘s marijuana laws that legalization would strike a major blow against the violent Mexican drug gangs that have brought so much misery to parts of that country and, increasingly, along the US border.

The logic is simple. Marijuana smuggling is a major earner for drug gangs, so a legal crop in the US would have a dramatic impact on their operations, lowering the amount of money available to them to bribe cops and hire killers south of the border. . . . Read Complete Report

Pot Legal in Colorado and Washington, but Feds Still Loom

Finally!

Prohibition of alcohol was finally overturned, not by the FEDS making it legal, but by legalizing alcohol state by state, thereby ignoring the 18th Amendment.

First the State of New York legalized it while it was still illegal  under Federal law.  Then other states started to legalize until it reached the point that the FEDs didn’t have enough officers to enforce the law.  Then, and only then, did the FEDS join in by passing The 21st Amendment which repealed the 18th Amendment, the prohibition of alcohol. Amendment 21 repeals Amendment 18. This is the same plan being used for the legalization of marijuana.  Looks like we’re on the right track.  Smoke um if you got um!!!. . . EDITOR

Los Angeles (CNN) — Pro-pot groups cheered passage of referendums legalizing recreational marijuana in Colorado and Washington state as the “light at the end of the tunnel” in their 50-year campaign to make the drug legal nationwide.

“Yesterday’s elections have forever changed the playing field regarding cannabis prohibition laws in America (and probably in large parts of the world too),” Allen St. Pierre, executive director of NORML — the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws — wrote in a celebratory blog Wednesday.

But Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper warned it’s too soon to “break out the Cheetos” since his state must still navigate federal laws before citizens can legally buy and sell cannabis. . . . Read Complete Report

Using poison chemicals that a person knows nothing about is ludicrous. It’s a crying shame that a “free” American has to stoop this low to keep a job or whatever just because he wants a joint to grab a quick attitude adjustment.

Problem is,when you put unknown chemicals in your body that were mixed by someone you don’t know that person might be only in it for the money. That’s ludicrous also. What’s to keep this “chemist” from putting anything in the phony weed to make more profit.

What we  need, is to have access  to the miracle drug that god gave us; not more chemicals to poison our bodies; all so the controllers and their pals can sell us their man made, money driven, poisoning goods without competition.

One of the chief attractions of synthetic cannabinoids — which are, make no mistake about it, NOT “synthetic marijuana” or anything near it — has been that these substances don’t show up on conventional drug screening tests, which after all, aren’t designed to detect them. God knows they don’t have many attractions, and no stoner in his or her right mind would ever smoke these blends if real weed is available.

This has made “herbal blends” (which are actually vegetable matter sprayed with chemicals) popular in such settings as the military and jobs which are subject to piss tests. But even that advantage will probably soon be gone, leaving synthetic cannabinoids the sole province of poor schlubs who can’t score any real weed. . . . Read Complete Report

Law Would Make Uruguay First Government In World To Legally Supply Marijuana

The president of Uruguay on Wednesday submitted a proposal to Parliament to legalize marijuana under government-controlled regulation and sale, making it the first country in the world where the state would sell marijuana directly to its citizens. The proposal, signed by Uruguayan President José Mujica, is part of a package of measures aimed at fighting crime and requires parliamentary approval before being enacted.
Despite Uruguay being one of the safest countries in Latin America, it has faced an increase in crime from drug gangs due to its position on a drug transit route to Europe via West Africa. The aim of the measure is to combat the rising insecurity in Uruguay by removing the profits of marijuana sales from drug gangs, separating the marijuana market from those for other illegal drugs, and avoiding marijuana users’ exposure to drug dealers who also sell coca paste and cocaine. Additionally, the revenues from marijuana sales will be invested into treatment for “problem” drug users. . . . Read Complete Report
