Researchers from the University of Sao Paulo say the anthropomorphic figure “could be the oldest figurative petroglyph ever found in the New World” and called it the “earliest indisputable testimony of rock art in the Americas.”
The figure was found in Brazil’s Lapa do Santo rock shelter, about 300 miles north of Rio de Janeiro. The researchers say the nearly foot-long figure was “pecked in the bedrock,” and the human-like figure has “tri-digits, a “C”-like head, and an oversized phallus.” . . . (Atlanta) Six hours southeast of Atlanta off the Georgia coast on Sapelo Island, archaeologists have unearthed the remains of an ancient walled city which predates the construction of many of Egypt’s pyramids. Known as the Sapelo Shell Ring Complex, this ancient city was constructed around 2300 B.C. and featured three neighborhoods each surrounded by circular walls twenty feet in height constructed from tons of seashells. Some of the earliest pottery in North America was also found buried in the remains of this lost city.
The site is quite an enigma because at the time of its construction the Native Americans living in the area were simple hunters and gatherers who had yet to invent agriculture. Many scholars believe agriculture is a prerequisite for civilization. Did these simple tribal people somehow make the leap from hunting-and-gathering to civilization in a single bound producing not only a walled city but also the new technology of pottery without the benefit of agriculture? With all of the attention being placed on Occupy Wall Street; Occupy D.C. and all the other “Occupy” spots in the good old U.S. of A we thought we should get the opinion of an authentic American. (Guess I better not ask him to join the “occupy movement”, he does not look too happy right now).
According to this report, if only 5% of new homes contractors used this list of all American products, 220,000 new American jobs would result.
If all contractors did so, that comes out to 4.4 million new jobs.
But how much more would the new home cost? According to the architects and economists, only about 1% more. According to some of the contractors who already pursue this plan, the actual cost is lower because the initial quality of the American made materials is higher, resulting in fewer warranty repairs and lower long term ownership or maintenance costs.
