Uruguay faces UN backlash for legalizing pot

From RT.com Published time: December 12, 2013 13:52
Edited time: December 13, 2013 10:44

Uruguay is facing criticism, as the UN’s drug body, supporting the International Narcotics Control Board (INCB), lashed out at the country for allegedly breaking international law, after it legalized the consumption and growing of the plant on Tuesday.

“Uruguay is breaking the international conventions on drug control with the cannabis legislation approved by its congress,” said the INCB, citing several reasons why it thinks Uruguay has made a mistake, among them the purported health risks associated with the plant’s use, the drug body said on its website. . . . It was a Tuesday morning in San Diego, just over a month ago on November 7th, when SDPD received reports of broken glass at a local business, with a possible burglary having had occurred overnight. Police investigators arriving on the scene quickly determined that the business in question was a medical marijuana dispensary, and the focus of their investigation quickly shifted from aiding possible burglary victims, to persecuting law abiding citizens and shuttering a legitimate business. . .  Entrapment: Cops Trick Autistic Student Into Selling Weed

From High Times FRI DEC 13, 2013

Marajuana Joint SOURCE middletown-ct.patch.com Public DomainHas it really come to this? It seems that with marijuana legalization legislation popping up in states across the country, the coppers are feeling backed into a corner. In one of their most despicable ploys yet, a number of agencies in Southern California have been deploying undercover cops into high schools with the mission of befriending teens, gaining their trust, and entrapping them into selling small amounts of marijuana so that they can arrest them.

This time it occurred at Perris and Menifee high schools where on 12/12/13, undercover cops who had been embedded in the high schools since the beginning of the year arrested over two dozen students on charges surrounding marijuana, hashish, and various other drugs. The remaining student population was thrown into a frenzy of distrust for both their school and their classmates as each one wondered who the cops were. . . . Read Complete Report

Gary Johnson’s Support for Medical Marijuana Legalization Will Help, Not Hurt His Campaign (w/Video’s)

This is an opinion piece. But an important one for sure, I personally do not believe it will hurt or help.

The only thing to help the Libertarian Party grow is what many of us have said since back in the day, have patience, spread the word, and give it time, lots of time. The Libertarian Party has been the only 3rd Political Party to have been on every Presidential Ballot in every state in the Union over the past 40 years. Other so called third political parties have appeared over the years, but the Lib Party is the only one to have been there year after year.

As things get worst more people will wake up to the Liberty movement and the answers we present.  . . EDITOR

While campaigning in Seattle, Washington, last Thursday, Libertarian Party presidential candidate Gary Johnson predicted that marijuana would be legalized in the U.S. by 2016 and reiterated his support for its legalization.

Dean Chambers, who covers the 2012 elections for the Examiner.comargues that Johnson and libertarians in general are making a mistake by raising the issue of marijuana legalization. “The voters have never shown a willingness to elect a candidate to the presidency who makes legalizing pot the number one issue,” writes Chambers. “Never at any time have the polls on issue priorities ever shown the American people viewing the legalization of marijuana as the highest national priority. The Libertarian Party nominee always goes to pot and marginalizes themselves for doing so.”

I completely disagree. Johnson is absolutely right to make this an important issue for several reasons. . . . Read Complete Report

Best Marijuana Argument Ever: Given By Superior Court Judge James P. Gray + UPDATE: Latest Medical Findings Mar 25, 2017

I have been involved with the movement to end the prohibition of marijuana since “Proposition 13” in California in the 1970’s. I’ve heard a lot of explanations or why we must end marijuana prohibition over all of their years.  This is one of the best. We commend Superior Court Judge Gray for explaining the steps needed to end the problems he addressed. . . . . EDITOR

Superior Court Judge James P gives his view point on the legalization of marijuana(Hemp) and points out how it would affect so many lives in a positive way, stop the drug cartells, stop the use of children as drug runners, empty our jails help our health etc etc etc.
With all the problems we have today marijuana use is pretty far down the line of importance, so why is so much time energy and resources put into keeping it illegal? These resources should be going into poverty, hunger, education and catching actual criminals

Since written records have been kept the medical value of Marijuana has been known. Despite the Controllers years of trying to eradicate this wonder plant it is still here. Here’s that latest findings . . . EDITOR

Update 2017 Marijuana: The Latest Scientific Findings and Legalization

YouTube ~ Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health

Published on Mar 25, 2017

California, Massachusetts, Maine, and Nevada became the latest states to legalize recreational marijuana, bringing to 28 the number of states that have okayed the drug for medicinal use, recreational use, or both. Even more states have rules that allow certain kinds of cannabis extracts to be used for medical purposes. At the same time that state legalization is increasing, the Trump administration is signaling that it may ramp up enforcement of federal drug laws, even when they come into conflict with state laws allowing recreational marijuana use. State and local governments may find themselves on uncertain legal ground. Meanwhile, policymakers navigating this new landscape are also working largely without the benefit of a solid foundation of scientific evidence on the drug’s risks and benefits. In fact, a new National Academy of Medicine report describes notable gaps in scientific data on the short- and long-term health effects of marijuana. What do we know about the health impacts of marijuana, and what do we still need to learn? This Forum brought together researchers studying marijuana’s health impacts with policymakers who are working to implement new laws in ways that will benefit and protect public health.

Part of The Dr. Lawrence H. and Roberta Cohn Forums, this event was presented jointly with The Huffington Post on Friday, March 24, 2017.
