Panners from all over the world are expected to descend on Mpumalanga to showcase their talents when the heritage site of Pilgrim’s Rest in Graskop near Mashishing (formerly Lydenburg) hosts the first leg of the international tournament of World Gold Panning Championships today.

Provincial spokesperson for culture, sport and recreation department Sibongile Nkosi said the event would run until Sunday. She said the tournament would have panners from Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Slovakia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and US. . . .
