EXCERPTS

“Today there are many organizations that work over top of our government which have been put into place by the modern day feudal oligarchy.  Many times these organizations are called “think tanks” or “policy institutes“.

Policy institute is the more appropriate term, because these are the organizations that set the political policy and hand it down to the politicians.” . . .

… “This week the CFR was in the news again, after a security breach revealed that their website had been hosting malware for days.  This malware is allegedly used to track and spy on the people who visit the website, and some are even suggesting that this aspect of their security breach may be an inside job to gather information about people who are interested in the CFR.” . . . FISA spy bill could be renewed without discussion (Video Report)

The US Senate has the opportunity to hear discussion before a vote on renewing the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, or FISA, but they might not even bother. Although reauthorizing FISA and the FISA Amendments Act of 2008 (FAA) would allow the government to warrantlessly wiretap the emails and phones of millions of Americans, one Republican senator has asked his colleagues on Capitiol Hill to approve the bill without debate. Will Congress skip discussions in order to renew FISA for another five years? Liz Wahl speaks with RT producer Adriana Usero about what the FISA vote means for personal privacy in the US.

Everyone is fair game: Spy agency conducts surveillance on all US citizens

From RT NEWS

Published: 13 December, 2012, 21:45

The Obama administration overruled recommendations from within the US Department of Homeland Security and implemented new guidelines earlier this year that allow the government to gather and analyze intelligence on every single US citizen.

Since the spring, a little-know intelligence agency outside of Washington, DC has been able to circumvent the Fourth Amendment to the US Constitution and conduct dragnet surveillance of the entire country, combing massive datasets using advanced algorithms to search and seize personal info on anyone this wish, reports the Wall Street Journal this week.

There’s no safeguard that says only Americans with criminal records are the ones included, and it’s not just suspected terrorists that are considered in the searches either. . . . Read Complete Report

Drone use just got a little scarier with reports that the United Nations wants to start using them to strengthen MONUSCO, their “peacekeeping” mission to the Democratic Republic of the Congo. They want to use them to monitor the Rwanda-Congo conflict amid accusations that Rwanda has been aiding rebels (something that only the U.S. government is allowed to do).

The idea of the UN using drones was considered at one point, but it was dropped because of the cost. But now that so many countries are using them, the cost has come down, and the UN has even approached the US among other countries about providing drone technology. . . . Read Complete Report

Spy VS Spy and The Litvinenko Inquiry (w/videos)

Photo: “Spy vs. Spy is a wordless comic strip that debuted in Mad magazine #60, dated January 1961, and was originally published by EC Comics. It was originally published in black-and-white. The strip was created by Antonio Prohías.
“The Spy vs. Spy characters have featured in media such as animated television series, merchandise such as action figures and trading cards, and video games.” . . . SOURCE Wikipedia
As a child of the ’50s and ’60s and a veteran of the Cold War and Cuban standoff Mad Magazine and the “Spy VS Spy” comic strip was all part of growing up in those uncertain times.
I am using this report on real spies of this era to reflect on the part of the cold war we never hear anything about. The chance to stop and laugh at the stupity of it all. Spy VS Spy did take that time – and does still – accomplish that incredibly task completely without dialogue  But the point of every strip or single cartoon is always clear. Stupidity. .
I subscribed to Mad Magazine back in the late 1950s and early 1960s and when it arrived I always turned to “Spy VS Spy” first.  I hope a little tip-o-the-hat to those pioneers at Mad, a Magazine which has never been equaled in its field, and “Spy VS Spy” which has never been topped, brings flashback memories to those who were there “back-in-the-day” and for those too young to remember, check it out I guarantee you’ll become a fan. . . . If You See This Google Warning, Act Fast: Big Brother is Watching

from Mercola

August 05 2012

By Dr. Mercola

Big Brother is watching. No kidding. And the warning is coming from none other than Google, which says government spies may be spying on you. Some believe the Google announcement may be related  to the recent discovery of the data-mining virus named “Flame.” In a June 3 New York Times article, Andrew Kramer and Nicole Perlroth write.

“When Eugene Kaspersky, the founder of Europe’s largest antivirus company, discovered the Flame virus that is afflicting computers in Iran and the Middle East, he recognized it as a technologically sophisticated virus that only a government could create. . . . Read Complete Report

Rand Paul proposes bill to prevent warrantless drone surveillance (w.video)

It’s about time one of our glorious leaders did something about this ever-growing intrusion into our rights. It’s just too bad that the only political family in our government to care about people’s rights when it comes to the intrusiveness of big government/business into our lives is the Paul family. I guess most of the politicos are either to busy trying to get re- elected or trying to stay out of jail, or both. Thanks Rand for caring . . . EDITOR

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) introduced legislation on Tuesday that would prohibit law enforcement agencies from using unmanned aerial vehicles to conduct surveillance without a warrant.

“I’m not against technology per se,” he explained on CNN. “What I am for are the constitutional processes that protect our civil liberties. So, you know, it’s not like I’m against the police using cars or against them using airplanes or helicopters or robots. But I am for personal privacy for saying that no policeman will ever do this without asking a judge for permission.”

This year’s Federal Aviation Administration funding bill contained provisions that made it easier for law enforcement agencies to use drones within the United States. The new law requires the FAA to speed up the process by which it authorizes government agencies to operate drones. The law also requires the FAA to allow agencies to operate any drone weighing 4.4 pounds or less as long as it is operated within line of sight, during the day and below 400 feet in altitude.

The American Civil Liberties Union has warned the law could usher in an “era of aerial surveillance.” . . . Read Complete Report

Iran‘s spies score ‘stunning achievements’
by Staff Writers
Beirut, Lebanon (UPI) Dec 22, 2011

Israeli officials say Iran, which has been hit several times by mysterious computer viruses, has launched an “ambitious plan” to boost its cyberwar capabilities and is investing $1 billion in cutting-edge technology.

If the claim is correct, the Iranian effort underlines what veteran analyst Mahan Abedin calls the “stunning achievements in the intelligence, electronic and cyberwarfare fields” against the West by Tehran’s security services in recent months. . . . continue report
