FBI shows up at teenager’s home to ask about his Ron Paul school report (w/videos)

from RT.com

Published: 14 September, 2012, 02:16

A 16-year-old high school student’s video report for his American Government class earned him an A+ from his teacher. It also yielded a visit from the FBI.

Justin Hallman says that a project he put together for school that included information on the National Defense Authorization Act, Rep. Ron Paul, Anonymous and the Occupy Wall Street movement was well received in the classroom, but wasn’t exactly praised by others. After agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation saw a copy of Hallman’s finished work on YouTube, they paid a visit to his own home. . . . Read Complete Report

Women’s rights are under severe attack. Access to healthcare — including contraception and abortion — childcare, housing, welfare and other benefits are being slashed across the country. We are tired of politicians playing political football with our lives. It’s time we take action. It’s time we organize and fight back.

Gary Johnson’s Support for Medical Marijuana Legalization Will Help, Not Hurt His Campaign (w/Video’s)

This is an opinion piece. But an important one for sure, I personally do not believe it will hurt or help.

The only thing to help the Libertarian Party grow is what many of us have said since back in the day, have patience, spread the word, and give it time, lots of time. The Libertarian Party has been the only 3rd Political Party to have been on every Presidential Ballot in every state in the Union over the past 40 years. Other so called third political parties have appeared over the years, but the Lib Party is the only one to have been there year after year.

As things get worst more people will wake up to the Liberty movement and the answers we present.  . . EDITOR

While campaigning in Seattle, Washington, last Thursday, Libertarian Party presidential candidate Gary Johnson predicted that marijuana would be legalized in the U.S. by 2016 and reiterated his support for its legalization.

Dean Chambers, who covers the 2012 elections for the Examiner.comargues that Johnson and libertarians in general are making a mistake by raising the issue of marijuana legalization. “The voters have never shown a willingness to elect a candidate to the presidency who makes legalizing pot the number one issue,” writes Chambers. “Never at any time have the polls on issue priorities ever shown the American people viewing the legalization of marijuana as the highest national priority. The Libertarian Party nominee always goes to pot and marginalizes themselves for doing so.”

I completely disagree. Johnson is absolutely right to make this an important issue for several reasons. . . . Read Complete Report

Gov. Gary Johnson Among the Occupy Wall Street Protesters

Anthony Bologna, NYPD Cop Who Pepper-Sprayed Occupy Protesters, Will Get No Help From City In Lawsuit (w/ Video)

Anthony Bologna– the NYPD Deputy Inspector caught on video pepper-spraying two women Occupy Wall Street protesters in Union Square last fall– could have to dig into his own pockets to pay for the damages in the women’s civil lawsuitagainst him. New York City has opted not to defend Bologna in court, The Wall Street Journal reports.

The decision indicates the city finds the 29-year NYPD veteran’s defense of his actions inadequate, and is a stark contrast from NYPD spokesman Paul Browne’s initial remarks on the incident in September.

Occupy National Gathering: Perspectives on Police

from Occupy Wall Street

Posted on July 20, 2012, 11:08 a.m. EST by OccupyWallSt

Last month, three Occupy Caravans traveled across the country in the three weeks leading up to Occupy National Gathering, bearing activists from San Diego, Salt Lake City, Tuscon, Wichita, Atlanta, Asheville, Boston, New Orleans, D.C., and many other cities. Roughly 1,000 Occupiers attended the gathering’s marches, workshops, visioning processes, and theatrical protest.

Despite many positives, the five-day gathering was rife with contention. Some Occupiers rejected the concept of NatGat outright, feeling that a movement geared towards autonomous action should not be centralizing around a national banner. In this vein, a group of Philadelphia anarchists organized a Radical Convergence the same weekend intended “for those who have felt Occupy in its current form demonizes and excludes radical dialogue, strategy, and action.” [Editor’s note: OccupyWallSt.org loves anarchists and condemns the scapegoating of anarchists from within and without the Occupy movement.] Over the five days, these theoretical divides became manifest around issues like “step up, step back,” the goals of the movement, and tactics of confrontation.

The heavy police presence, which included officers from the Philadelphia Police Department, the National Park Service, and the Department of Homeland Security, intensified the divisions around Occupy’s relationship with the police. . . . Read Complete Report

Thousands of NATO protesters demanding an end to costly and destructive wars marched in Chicago Sunday where the leaders of more than 50 nations were discussing the withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Despite sweltering heat and looming thunderstorms, the marchers set off banging drums and blowing bubbles heading for the lakefront convention center where the two-day summit was being held.

They were joined by a group of veterans, many dressed in combat fatigues, who said they were marching for peace and planned to turn in their medals. . . . Read Complete Report

EXCERPTS

Last week, Chicago police officers promised ¨billy clubs to the fucking skull¨[Video below in 5/19/20 coverage] to a group of activists they’d pulled over without cause in the South Side neighborhood of Bridgeport. The activists recorded the encounter with a cell phone and the video spread virally across the internet. Now, three of those Occupiers are locked up on charges of terrorism that witnesses, lawyers, and family say are ridiculous. Lawyers for the accused say CPD planted evidence. . . .

Across Chicago, activists and bystanders report being stopped on the street without cause and questioned about Occupy Chicago and the NATO protests. In addition to local police, the Secret Service, FBI, and DHS, at least 40 federal agencies are reported to be coordinating the suppression of the NATO counter-protests. The military presence includes blackhawk helicopters and other aircraft that have been openly patrolling Chicago’s skyscrapers for weeks. There have even been several reports of predator-class drone sightings near Chicago, including this one caught on film:. . . Read Complete Report

Update, 1:30pm ET: Protesters are gathering outside the bond hearing. The Sheriff originally allowed only three people to enter before ultimately allowing 10. Bail has been set at $1.5 million each. Mainstream corporate media are reporting that the 3 arrested activists were planning attacks on police stations, the Mayor’s home, and the Obama campaign headquarters — despite the fact that authorities “have provided no evidence of criminal intent or wrongdoing on the part of the activists,” according to a press release for the Chicago chapter of the National Lawyer’s Guild. Chicago Cops Harass & Intimidate people going to Occupy Chicago

Posted 8 hours ago on May 19, 2012, 6:29 a.m. EST by OccupyWallSt

This video shows Chicago police questioning occupiers about Occupy Chicago, the NATO protests, and threatening violence after arbitrarily pulling over their car in the Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago earlier this week. The video went viral after the activists posted it to social media. Now, three of them are being charged with terrorism in the wake of a warrantless preemptive raid on activists’ homes in Chicago.

An attorney from the National Lawyers Guild describes the video:

They were driving in a car and were pulled over without any kind of justification or reason by the Chicago police department. They were surrounded by police and they were questioned for a very long period of time about what they were doing in Chicago, why they were here to protest, what their political affiliations were, how they identified politically—All kinds of absolutely outrageous questions that certainly do not indicate any kind of illegal behavior because it is not constitutional simply to accuse them of a crime because of a political belief.”

One officer can be heard in the video saying, “We’ll come look for you, each and every one of you.” Police also made references to the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago, where protesters were violently beaten back by National Guardsmen:

CPD Officer 1: “You like that, he knows these guys know, ’68. You guys know all about ’68. What did they say back in ’68?”

CPD Officer 2: “Billy club to the fucking skull.”

Occupy Prepares Nationwide May Day Mayhem

from Before its News

Saturday, April 28, 2012 1:57

‘Direct action’ to shut down economy, block bridges, tunnels

Occupy’s plans for nationwide May Day chaos are going ahead full-speed ahead, with the movement boasting of “direct action” schemes that include protest marches, shutting down the financial sector, and blocking bridges and tunnels.

The group’s official websites announce plans to “occupy” Manhattan-bound bridges and tunnels as well as the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco Tuesday.

Besides street protests, sympathizers are asked to engage in a U.S. general strike to “shut it down,” referring to the country’s economy.

The MayDayNYC.org website, which serves as a national planning hub, published the call to arms:

“This May Day, Occupy Wall Street, in coalition with numerous other organizations and occupations, calls for a Day Without The 99%: No Work, No School, No Shopping, No Housework, No Compliance. Let’s take the streets, reclaim our communities, and support each other. NOT the 1%.

“If you can’t strike call in sick. If you can’t call in sick hold a slow down. We know how to shut it down because we’re the ones that prop it up.”

The Manhattan-based Occupy calls for “direct action and civil disobedience” in Midtown throughout the day, including “creative disruptions, bank blockades, outreach to commuters and tourists, and more!” . . . Read Complete Report
