Engineer Dallas Goecker attends meetings, jokes with colleagues and roams the office building just like other employees at his company in Silicon Valley.

But Goecker isn’t in California. He’s more than 2,300 miles away, working at home in Seymour, Indiana.

It’s all made possible by the Beam — a mobile video-conferencing machine that he can drive around his company’s offices and workshops in Palo Alto. The five-foot-tall device, topped with a large video screen, gives him a physical presence that makes him and his colleagues feel like he’s actually there. . . . Read Complete Report

Robotics Integrated With Human Body In Near Future? Technology Gulf Between ‘Have’ And ‘Have Nots’ Predicted By 2020

ScienceDaily (Dec. 8, 2008) — Spanish researchers have carried out a study looking into the potential future impact of robots on society. Their conclusions show that the enormous automation capacity of robots and their ability to interact with humans will cause a technological imbalance over the next 12 years between those who have them and those who do not. . . . Automation Systems Become Flexible When Robots Make Their Own Decisions

ScienceDaily (Dec. 5, 2012) — Researchers at University West in Sweden have created an automation system where machines and robots make their own decisions and adapt to external circumstances. They continue to work even when something goes wrong. You can reprogram them every day and easily vary equipment and manufactured products.

Georgia Tech Robots Learn Deceptive Behaviors from Squirrels (w/ video)

We know, we know, robots being deceptive sounds like a bad thing. Potentially avery bad thing. But the fact is, deception is everywhere, and for good reason: being deceptive is often the most efficient and effective way to protect yourself from harm. Deception is by no means unique to humans, either: animals are masters at deceiving other animals (and us), and Ron Arkin’s group at Georgia Tech has been teaching robots to learn deception from a pro: the squirrel. . . . Robots Can Help You Be More Human, Camouflage Robot

Here’s an interesting post.

Note: For those too young to remember a Church Key is a beer opener.  In the days before flip-top cans the beer distributors would throw two or three in a case of beer. What does this have to do with robots? Aren’t they both made of metal??

As we watch the Controllers take over the work force of humans now we find that “they” can help us be more human.  All I ask is that they have a handy church key screwed into the robot’s butt, then I won’t even have to get out of bed.  Let Will Smith worry about the robots.. . . EDITOR

“Please prove you are not a robot.”

How many times have you seen this as you try to squint your eyes and figure out “is that a t or a q?” typing in some random set of letters to prove you are a human to be granted access to sign into your bank account, Gmail account, etc.? Our entire lives are inundated with machines. Just recently, a friend and mentor, Ashley Bekton, who is a one woman show and a huge supporter of mine, commented on my “detox from technology” article. She mentioned to me that it was almost like we were living in the matrix, rushing through meals so we can get back to our computers, sitting across from the people we love, only to be looking at our texts the whole time. We all seem to blame technology for our issues, when maybe we should start recognizing that we are the ones that have lost the control; it’s not technology’s fault it’s our own! . . . Camouflage robot changes color for disguise

16 August 2012 Last updated at 16:51 ET

The robot uses colour to either stand out from its surroundings or blend in, as Stephen Morin from Harvard University describes here (Video produced by the journal Science)

A robot that can change colour to either blend in with or stand out from its surroundings has been created by scientists.

The machine, designed by researchers at Harvard University, was inspired by the camouflage skills of sea creatures such as octopuses, cuttlefish and squid.

Like these cephalopods, the robot has a soft, rubbery body and can move with flexibility.

The study is published in the journal Science . . . Read Complete Report w/ Video

We continue to add to our research archives, Robotics presenting the robot geeks working towards a perfect robot.

My research indicates that after the elitists Controllers finds their own safe habitat (underground,  back side of the moon or deep in space, or what ever) and they set in motion their planned “population control” they want service robots to replace humans to work for them. They have learned that “humankind as servants doesn’t work so well… they want to eat,be paid, cause problems  outside the Bilderburg meetings etc..

My research indicates they see the answer “to that human problem”  is robots… 24 hrs work, no complaints. no breaks and they don’t smoke that ant-establishment marijuana. . . . EDITOR

Robot Vision: Muscle-Like Action Allows Camera to Mimic Eye Movement

ScienceDaily (July 5, 2012) — Using piezoelectric materials, researchers have replicated the muscle motion of the human eye to control camera systems in a way designed to improve the operation of robots. This new muscle-like action could help make robotic tools safer and more effective for MRI-guided surgery and robotic rehabilitation.

Key to the new control system is a piezoelectric cellular actuator that uses a novel biologically inspired technology that will allow a robot eye to move more like a real eye. This will be useful for research studies on human eye movement as well as making video feeds from robots more intuitive. . . . Read Complete Report

Wonder what U.S. history would like if Butch and Sundance or Bonnie and Clyde had a few lookout drones?

In a case that would have looked more like a movie plot 10 years ago, new innovations have brought career criminals many new ways to cause a bunch of new troubles. Last Saturday, two members of a burglary ring known as the “Tub Gang” were accused of using a drone to spy on officers while carrying out thefts across Pennsylvania and other states. . . Dec. 19, 2013 — The robot effortlessly picks up one castor after another from the pile in the box and puts them into the channel. No matter how the wheels are lying, the robot manages to get an exact grip.

Operations run smoothly and automatically when assembling the various parts of an office chair at the SB Seating production unit at Røros. But when it’s time to fit the wheels, humans must intervene. The five wheels lying jumbled in a box have to be picked up and then aligned in a row before robots can take over again and attach them to the feet of the chair. Researchers from SINTEF now believe they have found a solution that could make production more effective and reduce costs . . . Read complete Report
