Breaking News: Louisiana sinkhole alarms reported, seismic activity spikes (w/ video report)

Louisiana sinkhole area residents reported to Assumption Parish officials hearing alarms over the weekend, but were told by officials that alarms are not going off. The alarm reports coincide with a spike in seismic activity, according to The University of Memphis Center for Earthquake Research and Information (CERI), and also might coincide with resumed drilling into the sinkhole area after Tropical Storm Isaac left it.

Just hearing bells? Alarms heard might link to Bayou Corne sinkhole area seismic activity at Monitors #3 and #9 near Hwy. 70 . . . Read Complete report

~~ Please .. Get this out to the people of Louisiana ~~ The explosive power of 1.5 Million barrels of liquid butane is = approx 100 Hiroshima’s (computations on my blog linked below)

Bayou Corne Louisiana has experienced a series of events which ‘professionals’ are having a hard time explaining — or at least the pros are finding it to be an inconvenient time to offer an explanation as to what is going on.

Its a long story, but crucial for everyone to understand !

Mysterious Louisiana Sinkhole Raises Concerns of Explosions and Radiation

A nearly 400-foot deep sinkhole in Louisiana has swallowed all of the trees in its area and enacted a mandatory evacuation order for about 150 residences for fear of potential radiation and explosions.

The 400-square-foot gaping hole is in Assumption Parish, La., about 50 miles south of Baton Rouge.

The sinkhole sits in the middle of a heavily wooded space where it has consumed all of the soaring cypress trees that had been there. Flyover photos show some of the treetops still visible through the mud.

Authorities enacted a mandatory evacuation for between 100 and150 homes in the area, but most people have chosen to stay, according to the Mayor’s Office of Emergency Preparedness. If any of the dangers seem to become more imminent, the order will be escalated to a forced evacuation.

While officials are not certain what caused the massive sinkhole, they believe it may be have ben caused by a nearby salt cavern owned by the Texas Brine Company.

After being used for nearly 30 years, the cavern was plugged in 2011 and officials believe the integrity of the cavern may have somehow been compromised, leading to the sinkhole. . . . Read Complete Report

Bubbling Assumption Parish swamp shuts down highway

Email: webteam@wwltv.com | Twitter: @WWLTV

“NEW ORLEANS — The mysterious bubbling swamp in Assumption Parish that turned into a sort of soupy sinkhole actually shut down a nearby highway this weekend.

About 100 homes were evacuated when the sinkhole started spreading.

It caused cypress trees to topple and even bent a natural gas pipeline. That’s when officials shut down Highway 70, and started work to depressurize the pipeline.

Officials aren’t sure, but say the problem could be connected to a nearby fault line or a collapsed salt dome.” . . . Text posted with Video

Underground water in eastern Shasta County in California (US) mysteriously disappears

from The Watchers

April 17, 2012

Something strange is happening underground in eastern Shasta County and it is draining water wells and maybe even causing sinkholes and subsiding pavement. A retired marine geologist with the U.S. Geological Survey, Stephen Wolf reveals that after the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake, water well levels in the area of the quake fell significantly. The drop in the water table in eastern Shasta County is the most dramatic that residents have seen in the past 10 to 15 years. Shasta County is located in the northern portion of the U.S. state of California. The county occupies the northern reaches of the Sacramento Valley, with portions extending into the southern reaches of the Cascade Range.

Last October, 131 earthquakes hit the Lassen Peak area. Most were less than 2.0 in magnitude. But since then the water table has fallen significantly.  Seismic activity may be affecting wells. The seismic activity further fractures the rocky, volcanic soil, allowing the water to flow deeper into the Earth. Officials at the USGS said they are hesitant to draw a correlation between the quakes and the drop in the water level in Cassel (it sits at an elevation of 3,176 feet (968 m)). . . .
