A Colorado ballot initiative to legalize limited possession of marijuana for adults is set to pick up an endorsement from a civil rights organization Thursday.

At a morning press event, the head of the Colorado, Wyoming and Montana conference of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is expected to announce the conference’s support for the initiative, Amendment 64. The conference’s president, Rosemary Harris Lytle, said Wednesday the endorsement comes not out of an interest in marijuana use but instead from a concern over the lopsided numbers of African-Americans arrested for marijuana offenses. . . . Colorado Rockies Baseball Team To Sell Marijuana Brownies At Their Concession Stands

From: empiresports.co

With the new laws in effect in Colorado, major sports organizations are looking for ways to cash in on the newest legal cash crop in the state.

Sources are reporting that Major League Baseball’s Colorado Rockies plan to sell food items which contain marijuana at concession stands during games next season.

The first item on the list?  Pot Brownies.

An inside source with the organization said that it appears that the strain of marijuana that will be used in the making of the marijuana brownies will be Durango Bango which is considered to be the very best weed in the Rocky Mountain State.

Editor’s Note: I am not a fan of professional sports, not since Larry Bird was playing anyway. Nor am I a fan of municipalities taxing citizens to build sports stadiums. However, if I recall my ancient history, Rome debated the sale or distribution of inebriating substances at the gladiatorial games in order to appease overtaxed Roman citizens. Rome still fell apart and it nothing at all to do with the citizens being too stoned to function, rather, the leaders were too greedy to be good managers of public resources.

If a beer is eight or ten bucks at the ballpark, how much will pot brownies cost?

Colorado and Washington Legalized Marijuana Tuesday, What Happens Now?

by Erik Altieri, NORML Communications Director

November 8, 2012

Tuesday night, the states of Colorado and Washington sent a loud and clear message to the federal government that they no longer wish to enforce the futile prohibition on cannabis. The symbolic impact of these victories are immediate, but what are the practical effects on the ground now that these two initiatives have been approved?

In Washington State, regulations for the marijuana retail outlets are going to start being drafted by the Washington State Liquor Control Board. This process is expected to last about a year. The immediate impact of passing I-502 is on the state laws regarding possession. Starting on December 6th, Section 20 of the initiative will take effect. This section effectively states that any person over the age of 21 is legally allowed to possess up to 1oz of dried marijuana, 16oz of marijuana solids (edibles), and 72oz of cannabis infused liquids (think oils and lotions). It is also no longer a crime to possess marijuana paraphernalia. . . . Read Complete Report

Richard Stratton’s education helped him to vacate a coercively harsh sentence, and now he speaks out to help others who are behind bars unjustly. The irony is not lost on Stratton, that recent cannabis legislation has legalized many of the activities for which people are still locked up. He offers a unique glimpse into the mind of an underworld leader, an award-winning writer and filmmaker, and a human rights advocate. Richard Stratton is a former international cannabis smuggler, CEO of a multi-million dollar operation. Arrested in 1982, he was convicted under the “Kingpin Statute” and sentenced to 25 years in federal prison.

Published on Feb 10, 2017

Minnesota has legalized some forms of medical marijuana. But now there’s a move to legalize it for recreational use as well. Several DFL lawmakers are proposing a law to do that. They’re also proposing a state constitutional amendment to make pot legal. Speakers include Bill authors Rep. Jason Metsa (DFL – Virginia) and Rep. Tina Liebling (DFL – Rochester) .

The bill is opposed by at least one key Republican— the GOP controls the legislature — and Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton opposes it.

If the legislature passes the constitutional amendment, it will go directly to the voters with or without Dayton’s signature.

Applebaum says realizes the bill isn’t likely to pass this session, but says it is a conversation starter about something that eventually has to change.

From Huffington Post Posted: Updated:

Marijuana is growing up. As Colorado and Washington’s recreational marijuana industries blossom and new markets in Oregon and Alaska begin to take shape, so-called ganjapreneurs are looking for ways to take cannabis mainstream. Before long, they hope, marijuana products will be as widely available as alcohol — and just as socially acceptable.

“Ideally, I would like to see the 21-to-35 year-old taking a four-pack of these to a barbecue,” Joe Hodas, chief marketing director for the marijuana product manufacturer Dixie, said earlier this year of the company’s new watermelon cream-flavored “elixir,” Dixie One. The drink contains five milligrams of THC — just enough to produce a subtle buzz. . . . Read Complete Report
