The Obama Administration through the Justice Department has given the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) the authority to “seize and administratively forfeit property involved in controlled-substance abuses.” In effect: those who are convicted of crimes involving alcohol and/or substance abusers will have their right to bear arms revoked.

Protesting Is Now Terrorism

An activist was designated as a terror suspect put on the terrorism watchlist, which was used to prevent him from protesting at the week’s DNC in Charlotte.

Activists James Tyson was shocked when he was giving an extremely high $10,000 bail after being pulled over on his way to protest at  the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte.

Court documents show prosecutors were able to get such an unreasonably high bail set because they argued he was a dangerous person listed on the Department of Homeland Security’s terrorism watch list.

Tyson’s only two previous  run-ins with law enforcement  were for fishing out of season and driving while impaired.

Even more ostensible is prosecutors argued that Tyson be held in jail without bail until after the DNC was over. . . . Read Complete report

DoD Training Manual Describes Protest As “Low-Level Terrorism”

Steve Watson
Infowars.net
Monday, June 15, 2009

Current Department of Defense anti-terrorism training course material states that the exercise of First Amendment rights in the U.S. constitutes terrorist activity.

The ACLU has written to the DoD regarding its Antiterrorism and Force Protection Annual Refresher Training Course, which advises personnel that political protest amounts to “low-level terrorism”.

“It has come to our attention that the Department of Defense’s Annual Level I Antiterrorism (AT) Training for 2009 misinforms Department of Defense (DoD) personnel that certain First Amendment-protected activity may amount to “low level terrorism” The ACLU writes. . . . Read Complete Report

Marijuana and Medical Marijuana (w/video)

from The New York Times

Updated: Jan. 26, 2012

Marijuana, whose botanical name is cannabis, has been used by humans for thousands of years. It was classified as an illegal drug by many countries in the 20th century. Over the past two decades, there has been a growing movement to legalize marijuana, primarily for medical purposes.

Medical marijuana use has surged in the 16 states and the District of Columbia that allow its use. But states and cities are also wrestling with the question of what medical marijuana is, or should be.

Marijuana’s use has particularly increased among teenagers. According to a December 2011 government report, one out of every 15 high school students smokes marijuana on a near daily basis, a figure that has reached a 30-year peak even as use of alcohol, cigarettes and cocaine among teenagers continued a slow decline. . . . Schedule I Prohibitive Status For Pot “Untenable,” Scientists Say

from NORML

Thursday, 05 July 2012

San Diego, CA: The classification of cannabis and its organic compounds as Schedule I prohibited substances under federal law is scientifically indefensible, according to a review published online in The Open Neurology Journal.

Investigators at the University of California at San Diego and the University of California, Davis reviewed the results of several recent clinical trials assessing the safety and efficacy of inhaled or vaporized cannabis. They conclude: “Based on evidence currently available the Schedule I classification is not tenable; it is not accurate that cannabis has no medical value, or that information on safety is lacking.”

Researchers added, “It is true cannabis has some abuse potential, but its profile more closely resembles drugs in Schedule III (where codeine and dronabinol are listed).” . . . Read Complete Report

Cannabis and Cannibalism: The Return Of Reefer Madness In The Media? (w/video)

I’ve heard  smoking pot blamed for some of the most ridiculous things in the world over the last 70 years but I’ve  got to admit this one takes the cake.  Of course I’m not saying that some of the good people who played cannibalistic zombies in the hit TV series “The Living Dead” hadn’t smoked a bowl or two before the shoot. . . but pot causing the recent “cannibal” attacks would be funny as hell if I wasn’t so tired of the misinformation about one of the most useable plants on our green earth.  lets FACE it, That’s carryin “making a munchies run ” just a bit far.

If you’ve never watched ‘Reefer Madness” I’ve included the full movie below.for your amusement. . . EDITOR

As I told staff this morning in an email, last night and this morning have been surreal being inundated with media requests for interviews on two totally disparate topics related to cannabis:

Chicago moving forward with cannabis decriminalization for possession

Media headlines (and some experts’ claims) that cannabis might have caused a guy to kill and chew his victim’s face off

Talk about one topic being ‘good’, the other one being ‘bad’ (if not totally bizarre)!

It is one thing for the media to report on the toxicological results from the autopsy of the guy who did this strange and gruesome maiming in Miami last month, but to read a professor of psychiatry at the University of Miami pop off to the Associated Press that maybe it was the strain of cannabis that might have caused this guy to become a cannibal strikes me that this professor is totally incorrect beyond belief and that her comments as an ‘expert’ are going to be repeated in any future news stories, radio and TV shows on the matter of cannabis’ safety. . . .
