This is my wish to all Americans:
Happy Independence Day! Even if it doesn’t mean what it used to mean.
A couple messages on Facebook from friends in Australia reminded me what Independence Day is supposed to mean: Freedom from tyranny. Of course, the NSA and DHS are now pinging on every utterance of “patriot”, “Liberty”, and “tyranny”.
I recently (last night) for the first time watched the motion picture The Road to Perdition with Paul Newman, Tom Hanks, and Daniel Craig. Now before you think I’m jumping off the deep end by tying that movie to the Fourth of July, stick with me.

A TEA Party sponsored “Impeach Obama” demonstration on a major Southern California freeway overpass caused traffic to backup at least ten miles, as the organizer apologized for “any small inconvenience” drivers may have dealt with, as reported by the San Diego-based local news portal the Carlsbad Patch on June 9, 2013.
Flying a number of American flag as well as the TEA (Taxed Enough Already) Party-adopted Gadsen flag, protesters flashed to motorists on the Interstate 5 southbound lanes in Carlsbad, California placards stating “Remember Benghazi,” “Obama Lies” and “Amnesty Hell No!” . . . Activist Kidnapped by Police in Philadelphia After Attending Kokesh Hearing
Welcome to the Nazi police state ladies and gentlemen, and if you think that my use of the word “Nazi” is sensationalist, then you haven’t been paying close enough attention.
As we reported earlier this week, Adam Kokesh, and organizer N.A. Poe were arrested at the fifth edition of the “Smokedown Prohibition” in Philadelphia. Yesterday we confirmed that they are both being held in a federal detention center on trumped up charges of assaulting a police officer, when video evidence clearly shows otherwise.
Activists everywhere are rightfully outraged, and many have made efforts in the Philadelphia area to support these political prisoners. As expected, the police state is not taking this lightly, and yesterday they even arrested and innocent person simply for attending a court hearing. . . . Read Complete Report

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Five members of The Panic Hour were followed into the City Hall rail station in Center City Philadelphia. Kyle Prouty was illegally searched and detained by SEPTA police officer Nicole Lawson at 3:20pm on 5/20/13. Kyle was charged with “disorderly conduct” “obstructing a highway and other public passage” and “resisting arrest”. The people in this video had just left an arraignment hearing for Adam Kokesh and Nikki Allen Poe who were kidnapped from a peaceful marijuana rally on 5/18/13. On Monday, members of congress celebrated the life of internet activist Aaron Swartz in a memorial on Capitol Hill. Over 300 people attended the ceremony where lawmakers, family, activists, and academics spoke about Swartz’s life and called for federal reform of anti-hacking laws. Congressmen including Senator Ron Wyden and Representative Darrell Issa spoke at the event. Justine Underhill brings us more.
