Congress held discussions to sell the National Parks during the government shutdown through the Disposal of Excess Federal Lands Act, spearheaded by Jason Chaffetz (R-UT).
The sale would cover national parks in Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, & Wyoming as a measure to “reduce the federal deficit.” We discuss the proposal on this Buzzsaw news clip with Tyrel Ventura and Tabetha Wallace.

A new wiretap bill backed by the FBI has many Internet companies concerned that this new proposed legislation will open the floodgates to all Internet communication. The new motion will expand wiretapping designs significantly and includes the ability for law enforcement to gain access to emails and features like video chats. RT’s Meghan Lopez has more.

In the state of Oregon, the Drug Enforcement Administration is attempting to gain access to millions of private prescription records without a warrant. According to reports, the step is taken to crackdown on the abuse of prescription pills, but the American Civil Liberties Union is saying not so fast. The ACLU claims that the DEA’s move is a violation of patient’s fourth amendment rights. Mike Riggs, associate editor for Reason Magazine, chimes in on the issue.
