For the last several years, the Federal Bureau of Investigation had been making countless requests to various companies demanding the information of certain customers. The demands came in the form of “national security letters” that were circumventing the process of obtaining a warrant or subpoena and Judge Susan Illston said the FBI’s procedures were unconstitutional and demanded the agency to stop. Kurt Opsahl, senior staff attorney for the Electronic Frontier Foundation, joins us with more.

When I first read the U.S. government’s complaint against Aafia Siddiqui, who is awaiting trial in a Brooklyn detention center on charges of attempting to murder a group of U.S. Army officers and FBI agents in Afghanistan, the case it described was so impossibly convoluted—and yet so absurdly incriminating—that I simply assumed she was innocent. According to the complaint, on the evening of July 17, 2008, several local policemen discovered Siddiqui and a young boy loitering about a public square in Ghazni. Privacy advocates point to latest DC scandal as evidence of growing problem
The continuing turmoil surrounding David Petraeus’s sexual escapades with biographer Paula Broadwell has privacy-rights activistscrying foul. Not over Petraeus’s affair, but over how seemingly easy it is for the FBI to gain access to multiple private email accounts without a warrant, and to do so for relatively insignificant reasons.
That the stars of America’s national security establishment are being devoured by out-of-control surveillance is a form of sweet justice
The Petraeus scandal is receiving intense media scrutiny obviously due to its salacious aspects, leaving one, as always, to fantasize about what a stellar press corps we would have if they devoted a tiny fraction of this energy to dissecting non-sex political scandals (this unintentionally amusing New York Times headline from this morning – “Concern Grows Over Top Military Officers’ Ethics” – illustrates that point: with all the crimes committed by the US military over the last decade and long before, it’s only adultery that causes “concern” over their “ethics”). Mentioning to many of the leading lights in the field of so-called “Cattle Mutilations” the idea that the admittedly weird phenomenon might have far more to do with the the work of a clandestine group in government or the military than it does with black-eyed aliens from some far away galaxy, is likely to result in a response of an overwhelmingly negative and defensive nature. Belief (particularly of the Mulder-like “I want to believe” variety) is a very powerful tool when it comes to concluding this or that is linked to the UFO puzzle. And that goes for cattle-mutes, too.
But – say the full-on believers in the theory that E.T. like to chow down on a nice tasty steak now and again – if not the aliens, then who else could be responsible? The fact of the matter, however, is that – for decades, no less – various official bodies have taken a clandestine and concerned interest in animal deaths and injuries all across the United States. A 16-year-old high school student’s video report for his American Government class earned him an A+ from his teacher. It also yielded a visit from the FBI.
Justin Hallman says that a project he put together for school that included information on the National Defense Authorization Act, Rep. Ron Paul, Anonymous and the Occupy Wall Street movement was well received in the classroom, but wasn’t exactly praised by others. I was fortunate to be introduced to Randy Weaver by Col. BO Gritz at a patriot meeting back in the days before the O.K. bombing.
Randy was a quiet and gentle man, I heard his sad, sad story first hand. Its the story of a patriot who moved his family into the wilderness because he feared our government. I just got word that apparently one of the contributors on this site has been arrested/detained over Facebook posts. The Police, FBI and Secret Service swarmed in and took Brandon Raub to John Randolph Metal Hospital. This patriotic Marine had posted 5 posts on the Dont-Tread-On.Me blog linked below. Just glancing over them they seem to be of the religious and patriotic fight for truth and justice. He used the blog to have people join his FaceBook group and even did and promoted a Richmond Liberty March.
I looked through my email to see if there was any emails between the two of us and I did not find any, although I am sure there was as I would not have given him access to post on the blog if I did not.
There are a couple of lessons I want everyone to know form what little information we have from this incident.
1. Delete Facebook.I did a video for The Greatest Truth Never Told series called Delete Facebook giving a non conspiracy reason why people should quit FaceBook as it is destroying our lives. Now you should all see the conspiracy reason why you should Delete Facebook. This incident proves that it is just a huge monitoring tool for the Elite to track and build a profile of you.
