WASHINGTON (CN) – Investigators once tasked with examining the assassination of President John F. Kennedy claim in court that the CIA won’t respond to requests for records it might have on covert surveillance of them.
Dan Hardway, Edwin Lopez and G. Robert Blakey each worked on the House Select Committee on Assassinations in the late 1970s. Hardaway and Lopez, who are now attorneys in West Virginia and New York, respectively, served on the committee as investigators from 1977 to 1978.
Blakey, now retired, was a government attorney and law professor at Cornell and Notre Dame who also served as chief counsel and staff director for the committee until its dissolution in 1979.
In a lawsuit filed Wednesday in Washington, D.C. federal court, Hardway, Lopez and Blakey say they filed a Freedom of Information Act request in May, requesting “201 files” or “soft files” on themselves. . . . Read Complete Report

Diego Rivera absolutely pegged the War Party with this painting, Glorious Victory. The canvas-mounted mural tells the story of the CIA’s overthrow of the democratically elected government of Guatemala in 1954. It’s a painting that probably won’t be in demand for display in any national gallery in Washington, D.C., although it should be.

Painted in 1954, the mockingly titled Glorious Victory has as its subject the infamous CIA coup of the same year that overthrew Guatemala’s democratically elected government. At the center of the mural, CIA Director John Foster Dulles can be seen shaking hands with the leader of the coup d’état, Colonel Castillo Armas. Sitting at their feet is an anthropomorphized bomb bearing the smiling face of U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower – who gave orders to launch the military coup. In the background, a priest can be seen officiating over the massacre of workers, many of which can be seen lying slaughtered in the painting’s foreground.

The sparrow-faced man in the battle uniform of an American general clambered down the steps of the U.S. Army transport plane upon its arrival at Washington National Airport.
