A handful of House Republicans want to authorize the House of Representatives to file a lawsuit against President Barack Obama if he acts on his own to ease U.S. immigration rules.

Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.) proposed a resolution Monday that would allow the House to file a civil suit against the Obama administration if it fails to follow the law, “with respect to immigration laws or laws pertaining or relating to illegal aliens, undocumented immigrants, or non-American citizens.” . . . WASHINGTON (AP) – President Barack Obama said he doesn’t think marijuana is more dangerous than alcohol, “in terms of its impact on the individual consumer.”

“As has been well documented, I smoked pot as a kid, and I view it as a bad habit and a vice, not very different from the cigarettes that I smoked as a young person up through a big chunk of my adult life. I don’t think it is more dangerous than alcohol,” the president said an interview with “The New Yorker” magazine. READ MORE

Smoking marijuana is “not something I encourage, and I’ve told my daughters I think it’s a bad idea, a waste of time, not very healthy,” Obama said.

In an op-ed for Forbes.com, Ilya Shapiro outlines President Barack Obama’s “top 10 constitutional violations of 2013.” The list includes everything from the the delay of Obamacare’s “out-of-pocket caps” to political profiling by the IRS.

“Unfortunately, the president fomented this upswing in civic interest not by talking up the constitutional aspects of his policy agenda, but by blatantly violating the strictures of our founding document,” Shapiro writes in the Dec. 23 op-ed. “And he’s been most frustrated with the separation of powers, which doesn’t allow him to ‘fundamentally transform’ the country without congressional acquiescence.” . . .
