After 20 years of patented opioid painkillers flooding America thanks to the pharmaceutical industry and careless doctors, the United States finds itself in a raging opioid epidemic.

The numbers are telling: 80 percent of the global opioid supply is consumed in the U.S., representing about 300 million prescriptions in 2015 alone or “enough drugs to give every single American 64 Percocets or Vicodin.”

As pain pill prescriptions have surged, overdose deaths from these legal drugs now total about 15,000 every year. When people can’t afford patented pills anymore, they turn to heroin, which killed almost 13,000 people in 2015—a 23 percent increase in one year. . . . Read Complete Report

However as has been happening all over our country Florida Legislatures have forgotten that they are in Tallahassee to perform the will of the people and are trying every way they can think of to stop this State Constitutional Amendment.  Mr. Morgan is our champion in the fight to stop this movement. . . . Dennis,

Today, I am filing a lawsuit to overturn the state’s ban on smoking medical marijuana, which everyone knows is in direct contradiction to the constitutional amendment we passed.

The ban is unconstitutional, and as promised, we are going to take it to the courts and win.

Getting anything passed through the legislature, as you know, was an accomplishment. Tallahassee politicians often forget who the they are working for.

I know who I am working for: The patients and all of you who have fought with us for years to make sure those patients have access to the medicine they need.

Now, thanks to our collective efforts, most patients will get that access via certain types of marijuana. But it’s not enough and not everything the voters passed.

So we start the new fight today in the courts. And we will continue to fight anywhere and any place where the will of the voters is attempting to be side-railed or ignored.

We are unified in this fight and we will bring our cause to a complete and unasterisked victory soon.

Please help us fund this fight and bring even more forces to bear against those that would stand against patients by donating here.

According to a recent post here on THEI we reported that a General Social Survey found that almost 60% of Americans believe that Marijuana should be legalized.  If you are one of those majority of our citizens I urge you to contact your Congressperson and demand that they support Congresswoman Gabbard  and Congressman Garret on this important issue. Tell them you support HR1227.

 It is the liquor and medical industry lobbyist who spend million of dollars to stop this movement that we are fighting.  Even if you are against recreational marijuana you must see the ridiculousness of keeping it a Schedule 1 classification which still means they are saying that it “has no medical benefits” and makes it illegal to even study the plant to find further medical uses, which I an sure there are many.

Any minute now, medical marijuana will be legal in West Virginia. West Virginia! It’s a state that voted for Trump by nearly 42 points in November, and approved medical marijuana via its Republican legislature last week. Democratic Gov. Jim Justice (D) is open to signing it.

And West Virginia is on the tail end of the medical marijuana trend. Half the population of the country, spread out among some 28 states and the District of Columbia, can legally smoke some form marijuana for medical purposes. According to a stunning Fusion investigation, 80 percent of women and girls crossing into the U.S. by way of Mexico are raped during their journey. That’s up from a previous estimate of 60 percent, according to an Amnesty International report.This year alone, immigration authorities expect more than 70,000 unaccompanied minors  to come through the United States unlawfully, the majority of whom are from Central American countries of El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras. The number of unaccompanied Central American girls caught at the Southwest border has rapidly outpaced the number boys, according to a July Pew Research study.Through May, the number of unaccompanied girls younger than 18 caught at the US-Mexico border increased by 77 percent. But while many of these girls are fleeing their homes because of fears of being sexually assaulted, according to the UNHCR, they are still meeting that same fate on their journey to freedom.
